Self-Management for Amputees using Rehabilitation Technology (SMART)

Our research team, including Sheena King, Dr. Bill Miller, Elham Esfandiari (UBC PhD student), Dr. Heather Underwood, Paul Zollmann, and Barber Prosthetics are developing a self-management program for Lower Limb Amputees (LLA) called “SMART- Self Management for Amputees using Rehabilitation Technology”.

We are in the process of recruiting individuals with lower limb amputation to participate in focus groups throughout the Lower Mainland to share their experiences and perceptions for education and training programs for Lower Limb Amputation (LLA).

We are hoping to schedule a 90 minute focus group at GF Strong Rehab Centre and would greatly appreciate your participation and attendance. Refreshments and parking will be provided as well as a $25 honorarium gift card for your participation.

Potential participants include Individuals with Lower Limb Amputation who:

·         Are age 50+ (we may expand to younger ages, so let us know if you are interested)

·         Between 2 months- 5 years since receiving your initial prosthesis

·         Have started post-lower limb amputation rehab and prosthetic training.

To participate or learn more, contact Elham Esfandiari at 604-714-4108 or elham.esfandiari@ubc.ca.
